Let’s Play #51: Kingsway

<< Previous LP: Xenoblade Chronicles    –     Next LP: Bayonetta >>

The screen of the game getting crowded with windows. Organization is imperative.

There’s not a lot to say about Kingsway unfortunately, it’s a short and simple game after all.

It’s a RPG in which you have to save the world of Kingsway from a looming shadow with a three days time limit which forces you to move along the map. Its interface looks a lot like the Windows 95 operating system and that’s really the main draw of the game.

There’s a lot of emphasis on organization in this game: item bags are like folder that only hold so man things. You can put them one into another, or rename them differently depending on their contnent. Actually, pretty much any item in the game can be renamed to anything you please to add some of your personal charm to the game.

The screen space also needs to be organized: because everything happens in windows, the screen can become quite crowded at times. Organizing all the windows so that they are always in the convienent place is another skill that you need to develop quite early.

The game itself uses the rogue-like formula to randomize every playthrough. So while some things never change, many minor events as well as the layot of the world map, do.
In the let’s play, we play though the game twice to get the two major endings. With the second time getting a bit of extra help from the first playthrough because the second ending is hard.
